We are a team of health professionals, providing early and effective services in the assessment, rehabilitation and management of injuries and disability and the identification of potential harm. Our specialisms are Occupational Health and Safety, Musculoskeletal and Sports Injuries, Women’s Health and Education.

Our Goal is to restore the injured person to an optimal functional state, applying the highest scientific standards and proven evidence-based treatment. The Team

Patrick Keating

MSc. Physio MISCP

Patrick is a graduate of Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, where he achieved a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. He is a registered member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and CORU.

He has worked in a range of physiotherapy settings in both the UK and Ireland over the past number of years, where he has gained valuable experience with a wide variety of clinical populations in both private practice and with elite level sporting teams, in assessing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries and neurological conditions.

Patrick has excellent expertise from working with various sporting teams and enjoys working at training sessions and pitch side during matches. He has extensive experience in the management and rehabilitation of many sports related injuries including hamstring, groin and ACL injuries. He is currently working as Chartered Physiotherapist with the Clare GAA Senior Hurling squad, and previously worked as Senior Physiotherapist with Murrayfield Wanderers RFC in Edinburgh. His own personal interest in sport is GAA Gaelic football, rugby and soccer.

He has a special interest in low back pain which he has extensively researched as it formed the basis of his dissertation for his Master’s degree. He has an in depth understanding of the assessment of patients with low back pain and has developed his ability to design specifically tailored treatment programmes to suit the individual. He treats a range of patients with spinal pain, postural dysfunction and neck and shoulder pain.

Patrick has gained valuable experience in Abbey Physio in Occupational Health and Ergonomics and frequently performs Ergonomic workplace assessments in a variety of occupational settings. He is the on site physiotherapist in a large multinational medical devices company based in Clonmel, where he provides Physiotherapy services to staff, and has often participated in specific on-site programmes, where Abbey Physio were invited to address company-wide ergo stretching and education programme delivery.

He has regular requests to provide complex medico-legal reports for the purpose of personal injury and accident claims litigation, in high court proceedings, from individual plaintifs, barristers, insurance companies and employers.

He has undertaken post-graduate study in the USA in Functional Capacity Evaluation in an effort to expand his knowledge in the area of Occupational health workplace assessment and rehabilitation. This focus on professional development ensures that Patrick’s approach to Physiotherapy is based on themost current research and evidence based protocols.
